2. Nature of Services and Scope of Practice
Credentials
Care is provided by Dr. Erica Steele, DNM, ND, MPH, MBA, BCND, CFMP, a nationally board-certified naturopathic doctor (Board Certified Naturopathic Doctor through the American Naturopathic Association). Naturopathy is not a licensed profession in Virginia. Dr. Steele practices under her national board certification, not a state medical license. She is not a medical doctor (MD or DO) and does not prescribe medication.
Care for patients in the United States
We provide naturopathic, functional, and integrative evaluation, education, and care planning. When a laboratory test or prescription is appropriate, it is ordered by an independent licensed physician. Every patient must maintain a relationship with a primary care provider, and our care works alongside, not in place of, that relationship. A practitioner-patient relationship begins only after a formal intake, practitioner review, and mutual agreement to work together.
Clients outside the United States
Important: services for clients outside the United States are provided as wellness consultation, health education, or coaching. Using our services does not by itself create a clinical relationship governed by United States clinical standards. You are responsible for following the laws of your own country.
Not for emergencies
None of our services replace emergency care. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number right away. Do not use our forms, app, or messaging to report an emergency.
Coaching and wellness programs
Our coaching and non-clinical programs are not the practice of medicine, do not provide diagnoses, and do not prescribe treatment. Participants understand they are receiving health education and coaching, and that results are not guaranteed.
3. Virtual Global Holistic Healthcare Model
The Virtual Global Holistic Healthcare Model is our proprietary framework for delivering holistic care to patients and clients through secure digital platforms. These terms also apply:
- All consultations take place on secure, encrypted platforms.
- You are responsible for having a device, internet connection, and software that work for virtual visits.
- Appointment times are shown in your local time zone when you book.
- We may decline or end services to any location where providing them would violate applicable law.
4. Intellectual Property: All Rights Reserved
All intellectual property of Holistic Family Practice is protected, and all rights are reserved worldwide. Unauthorized use, reproduction, or distribution is prohibited and will be enforced through all available legal remedies.

- Protocols and care frameworks: all integrative, functional, naturopathic, and mind-body protocols, root-cause methods, supplement protocols, decision tools, case summary frameworks, and evaluation frameworks developed by or for the Practice. These are trade secrets of the Practice.
- Written content and publications: all articles, blog posts, patient education materials, handouts, newsletters, intake forms, summaries, templates, social media content, and other written materials, whether public or provided privately to patients.
- Brand identity and trademarks: the names "Holistic Family Practice," "Holistic Life+," "Holistic Doctor in Your Pocket," and "Virtual Global Holistic Healthcare Model," and all logos, taglines, visual identity, colors, and typography associated with them.

- Reproduce, copy, photograph, screenshot, record, or otherwise capture our intellectual property in any format
- Distribute, share, forward, publish, or publicly display our content, protocols, or materials
- Modify, adapt, translate, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from our intellectual property
- Use our protocols, frameworks, curricula, or program content in your own practice, programs, or courses
- Use our names, or any confusingly similar name, in connection with any product, service, or organization
- Use our brand, name, or content to imply endorsement, partnership, or affiliation
- Sell, license, or otherwise commercialize our intellectual property
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically collect our website content or platform data
- Use our intellectual property to train any artificial intelligence system or language model, or in automated content generation
Enforcement and remedies
We monitor for unauthorized use in the United States and internationally. Violations may result in:
- A demand to stop and to acknowledge the violation in writing
- Civil action for copyright infringement, trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, or unfair competition
- Claims for actual damages, statutory damages (up to $150,000 per work for willful infringement under 17 U.S.C. § 504), disgorgement of profits, injunctive relief, and attorneys' fees
- Referral to the U.S. Copyright Office, USPTO, or international intellectual property authorities
- DMCA takedown notices to platforms hosting infringing content
You agree that a violation of these intellectual property terms would cause irreparable harm, and that we may seek immediate injunctive relief in addition to any other remedy.
Limited license
You may access and view our public website content, and any education materials provided for your own care, for personal, non-commercial use. This license does not permit reproduction or distribution and ends immediately if you breach these Terms.
5. Medical Records Requests
Records requests are governed by our Medical Records Request, Release & Case Summary Policy, Virginia Code § 32.1-127.1:03, and HIPAA. By submitting a records request, you agree to the fee schedule, authorization terms, and timeline in that policy. Records are released only after we receive a complete, valid authorization and confirmed payment. Clinical summaries and case evaluations are professional services, billed separately from copies of records.
6. Fees, Payment, and Cancellation
Fees
All fees are disclosed before services are provided and may change with notice. Our current price list is available on request or at enrollment.
Payment
Payment is due at the time of service or when an invoice is issued, unless we agree otherwise in writing. We accept all major credit cards through our secure payment platform, processed by Stripe, and PayPal. Our services are private pay. Some laboratory tests may be billed to insurance separately. We do not contact insurers about visit-based services, but we provide superbills and supporting documentation on request so you can seek HSA, FSA, out-of-network, or employer wellness reimbursement yourself. Reimbursement is not guaranteed.
Memberships, care plans, and billing terms
Memberships and care plans are also governed by our Financial Terms, Policies & Agreements, which set out plan terms and renewal, early termination, refunds, late payment fees, and chargebacks. If those terms and these Terms conflict on a billing matter, the Financial Terms control.
Cancellation and refunds
Appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance. Late cancellations and no-shows may be charged a cancellation fee. For digital programs, courses, and app purchases, refund eligibility is stated at the time of purchase. Medical records fees are non-refundable once preparation has begun.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
No warranties. Our services, website, tools, and content are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not promise that our services will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any particular health outcome will result.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Holistic Family Practice and its principal clinician, staff, and affiliates are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our services, website, or content, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or personal injury, even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or our services will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Holistic Family Practice and its principal clinician, staff, agents, and successors from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from (a) your use of our services or website, (b) your violation of these Terms, (c) your violation of anyone else's rights, including intellectual property rights, or (d) false or inaccurate information you provide to us.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be settled by binding arbitration in Alexandria, Virginia, under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Either party may still seek injunctive or other equitable relief in court to protect intellectual property or prevent irreparable harm. You waive any right to a jury trial and agree that disputes will be resolved individually, not as part of a class action.
11. International Use
Our practice is based in the United States. If you use our services from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and are responsible for following your local laws. We make no claim that our services are appropriate or available in your location. These Terms are governed by United States law wherever you are.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may change these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Disclaimer, and any service-specific agreements, are the entire agreement between you and Holistic Family Practice about your use of our services.
